What is a birdwatcher?  Have a look at Mivon with a camera trying to trap birds!

Mivon has the camera here that was used along with the Canon EOS rebel D that we like to take really great pictures with.

It started innocently enough.  A tired old humming bird feeder in a tree beside the new house.  We took that in and Mivon cleaned it all up and made it shiny.  Then hung it up where you can see it in the picture off the back porch.

Humming birds eat a lot of calories and the best way to feed them is nectar.  Nectar can be faked by using water and sugar in the correct proportions and then boiling it so that it will not ferment quite so fast.

So after we hung the feeder, we attracted many ants.  Was not the first thing we were looking to attract.

Mivon did some research and found out that ants can not swim and they make a nice little thing called a "moat" for the ants.  Works really nicely.

So now we are trying to attract humming birds.  Needed more than one feeder for that for some reason.  Off to WildBird!

Here you see the new bird feeder and oh my it is Ralphy!  Each bird needs a name after all.  So the bird watching goes something like. I want birds.  We now have birds.  Actually i think we have small crack (sugar water) addicts.   They will chase each other away from the feeder.

The feeders are hung behind our kitchen sliding glass door which also gives us a beautiful view of the back yard.  More birds!  There are also regular  bird feeders in the back yard for normal seed.

It is fun to watch the cardinals and bluejays fight with each other over the seed.

It is even funnier to listen to Mivon lecture the birds on eating habits.  They should be clean and neat and not spread seed all over under the bird feeders .  . . . Uhhh they are birds dear!

Here is one of the back yard feeders with a pair of cardinals munching away at the buffet.  We have a nice setup here with lots of room for the birds to play and frolic about.

Now the only problem is that we have a nice buffet for the birds.  But thinking in terms of the food chain we seem to have a nice buffet for more than just birds.  We have a cat feeder as well.  Do you suppose this visitor is here because of the mice near the garage or the buffet that seems to be just a little too high off the ground?????

Lets go see some pictures of the birds in action.  You can watch our birds too.
